Who wants gorgeous hair for their wedding?........ “I DO!”
Beautiful wedding hair requires some tender, loving care in the run up to the big day. So, here comes the …….
1. The partner of your dreams (of course, we mean your stylist)
When you’ve chosen your stylist - book them immediately! Imagine finding the style and the stylist of your dreams - only to discover that she is away on holidays or booked solid on your big day. The early bird catches the worm - or in this case, the stylist - so BOOK EARLY.
2. Countdown to the Big Day
Think about the length and condition of your hair in plenty of time so that you have time to do something about it. Beautiful hair accessories can only go so far when it comes to covering un-sightly split ends. Talk to your stylist early and often about a hair care regime to get your tresses in tip-top shape. This should include a professional grade shampoo, conditioner, and a leave in heat protection product. We especially love KERASTASE EXTENSIONISTE range for healthy glowing hair. It’s also worth asking about whether in-salon intensive conditioner treatments are needed for your hair. And make sure your early consultation also covers colour.
3. Go On Trial
Yes a trial is definitely necessary - and you should come prepared for it! Dress appropriately - wear something that can be pulled down to replicate the neckline of your dress - a strappy camisole or vest top is ideal. Bring along pictures of the bridal styles you like, and your dress too (we promise to keep it a secret!). It’s important to plan your hairstyle around your dress, - especially the neckline. If you plan to wear a headpiece, or veil - this is the time to show it to your stylist, so your stylist knows how to fit it and style your hair accordingly. You could even have a friend take a photo of you in your dress at a fitting and take it in to your stylist.
4. You do YOU!
You may be tempted to replicate the latest celebrity bride, but don’t lose sight of your own unique beauty. Your partner fell for you for reason - probably many reasons! Your wedding day should be about you, being comfortable in your own skin - so don't stray too far from your own look and style. !f you are the kind of girl who loves having her hair down and flowing, then avoid a s!eek or stuffy up-do, and instead consider a more glam version of how you normally look.
5. Having said that……
Be open to recommendations from your stylist. Your hair trial gives you the chance to experiment with a look and see how it feels, before you commit to it.
6. Put the BLING on it - we mean accessorise!
There are so many great hair accessories available now to add a gorgeous accent to your wedding hair. Depending on the look you’re going for, you can choose from a traditional veil, or a classical glam look with Swarovski crystal brooches or Jewelled clips, or something altogether more funky - like feathers or fresh flowers which add a beautiful accent to bohemian gowns.
Apart from cutting and colouring - you can also choose more dramatic permanent embellishments to the hair you’ve got - with hair extensions for your wedding day. The latest extensions can be temporary or permanently bonded, and they are completely realistic looking. You can add loads of lush tresses, and nobody will be any the wiser. Temporary extensions can also be used to reinforce or add volume or stability to a complex updo. If your hair is fine and likely to collapse, then hair extensions can save the day!
8. Make a commitment!
When you’ve chosen your wedding day do in your trial, the next step will be to plan for the ongoing treatments you’ll need as the wedding approaches. Do you need to grow it out? Or cut it now to protect your hair’s condition? And don’t forget the colour treatments - which will need to be timed carefully so that you are booking your last trim and colour touch up no less than a week ahead of the wedding.
9. AVOID last minute changes of mind!
When it comes to jilted grooms, or radical hair style changes right before the wedding - we are NOT if favour. You made a plan (and chose the man), now stick to it - no matter how many jitters you may get as the big day draws near. Avoid a makeover at all costs!
10. And on the day?
Leave it all to us! Come in plenty of time, with NO PRODUCT in your clean, dry hair. Avoid leave-in conditioners that day, or serums that can weigh down your hair. Don’t forget the veil, or headpieces you’ve chose to use. Wear a button down shirt that comes off easily when it’s time to dress. All you have to do is relax. So enjoy. Feel the love of your family and friends around you. Savour every moment of your day.
Here Comes the bride!
